In a bowl, combine gelatin and boiling water until dissolved.
In a saucepan, combine 2 cups cherries and sugar; mash cherries. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Stir in gelatin mixture. Remove from heat.
Cut remaining cherries in half; place in crust. Gradually pour hot mixture over top. Chill for at least 4 hours before cutting.
