Cheese Bread

Yield:
11 (3/4-inch) slices

Ingredients:

  1. 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  2. 1 1/2 teaspoons ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda
  3. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  4. 1 1/2 cups low sodium shredded Cheddar cheese
  5. 2 eggs
  6. 6 tablespoons distilled white vinegar, plus skim milk to make 1 1/2 cups liquid
  7. 1/4 cup shortening, melted
  8. 1 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional)
Directions:

Sift flour, baking soda, and salt into mixing bowl. Add cheese; mix well. In small bowl, beat eggs, and combine with liquid and shortening; blend well. Stir in caraway seeds, if desired. Add all at once to flour mixture, and mix lightly. Turn into greased 9x5-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 F. for 70 minutes or until done. Remove from pan; cool several hours or overnight before slicing.
